EIA Study for Yamama Pilot Project in West Qurna-2 Iraq

LUKOIL Mid-East Limited (LUKOIL) is developing upstream production facilities and production infrastructure in West Qurna (Phase-2) Contract Area in Southern Iraq. The field consists of two main reservoirs Mishrif and Yamama.

In partnership with Basra Oil Company (BOC) of Iraq, LUKOIL is planning to assess and develop Yamama field for oil and gas production activities within West Qurna (Phase 2) Contract Area.

The West Qurna (Phase 2) area is situated in the southern end of Iraq, within the Governorate of Basra. It is located approximately 70 km northwest of Basra City and 3.5 km north to Shat AI Arab River. Shat AI Arab River is one of the major sources of water in the study area.

In accordance with the Iraqi environmental regulations, LUKOIL commissioned Dome to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Mitigation Measure (MM) study prior to the commencement of the project.

Omani Fertilizer EIA Study

Omani Agri Fertilizer Co LLC (OAFC) is one of the largest producer of organic fertilizers with a production capacity of 40,000 tons of fertilizer per year in Sultanate of Oman. OAFC has currently occupied an area of 25000 Sqm for the existing plant and requires an additional area of 25000 Sqm from the Ministry of Housing and Environment for the expansion project. Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has advised OAFC to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment and identify the methods to control the odour arising from operations for approving the expansion of the plant.

OAFC commissioned Dome to undertake the Project’s EIA study, as required by MECA.

Madinat Zayed Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM) has objective to ensure that Madinat Zayed development proceeds in accordance with the strategic regional plans, including Plan Al Dhafra therefoe initiated Madinat Zayed Master Plan (the Project). The development of this master plan takes into account Plan Al Dhafra, which is the overarching plan for the region.

Madinat Zayed is a modest‐sized desert settlement established in 1968 in Al Dhafra region, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The city is located approximately 110 km southwest of Abu Dhabi City and is strategically located midway between Liwa (south of Madinat Zayed) and the Arabian Gulf coastline of Abu Dhabi.

Dome has been contracted to undertake the Strategic Impact Assessment for the development of Madinat Zayed Master Plan.

Mina Zayed Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM) completed the Detailed Master Plan for Mina Zayed Phase 1 and wishes to develop the remaining Phases 2 and 3 of Mina Zayed District (the Project).

The development of master plans for Mina Zayed district, which was initially spearheaded by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM), commenced in 2017 with development of Master Plan for Mina Zayed Zone 1 (covers the northernmost part of the district). In line with the overall development strategy for the greater Mina Zayed area, the development of master plans for the remaining areas of Mina Zayed district has been initiated and was taken over by Modon Properties.

Dome has been commissioned to undertake the environmental studies and Phase 1 Contaminated Land Assessment (CLA) for the Zone 2 and 3 of Mina Zayed district.

DEWA Solar Photovoltaic IPP Phase VI

Masdar is developing the DEWA Solar PV IPP Phase VI (the Project) on a greenfield site within the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park plot. The Project will utilize ground-mounted PV technology with minimum accumulated installed capacity of 1800 MW(AC). It is envisaged to be commissioned in three phases i.e., Phase A with 600 MW capacity by 2024, Phase B with 400MW capacity by 2025, and Phase C with 800 MW capacity by 2027. This development aims to optimize its implementation to offer the least cost of electricity generation with high availability and reliability.

Dome has been commissioned by Masdar to undertake the ESIA study for the project.

Environmental Monitoring for West Qurna - 2 Field, Iraq

LUKOIL Mid-East Limited (LUKOIL) is the designated operator of the West Qurna-2 (WQ-2) Contract Area, under a Development and Production Service Contract (DPSC) with Iraq’s Basra Oil Company. West Qurna is located in southern Iraq, in the province of Basra with the total recoverable oil reserves at the WQ-2 oilfield exceed 13 billion barrels of oil.

LUKOIL has initiated a comprehensive plan to conduct environmental monitoring of its WQ-2 Contract Area to assess the effectiveness of operational controls and demonstrate compliance with the requirements of Iraq’s BOC and Iraqi environmental laws. Dome International LLC (Dome) has been appointed by LUKOIL to conduct the environmental monitoring program for the WQ-2 Contract Area for three (3) years, from 2018 to 2020. The monitoring program has been carried out by Dome in four (4) stages every year (total of 12 monitoring stages for 3 years).
